Wayne Rooney is due to return from a three-game suspension for his kick at Stewart Downing but after he was seen limping earlier this week, there have been concerns that the captain could be out a little longer. The latest reports on that front are positive, but there is no guarantee the all-time leading scorer in Manchester derbies will be ready.
There are also concerns over Radamel Falcao. The Colombian has missed the last two matches, the first through jet-lag and the most recent after he "got a kick" in training. With the on-loan striker having scored just once since his high-profile arrival at Old Trafford, these issues will be a growing concern for Van Gaal.
United still have defensive concerns though with Phil Jones and Jonny Evans missing.
