Manchester City have been handed a double injury boost with the news that Fernandinho and Matija Nastasic have been passed fit for Sunday's game against Tottenham. Captain Vincent Kompany is still missing with a groin injury, while Manuel Pellegrini will also have to do without David Silva and Stevan Jovetic. Pellegrini has refused to say whether he will recall Joe Hart but has hinted Costel Pantilimon will keep his place in goal.
Tottenham are without Christian Eriksen, who will be out for four weeks with sprained ankle ligaments. The Dane’s absence gives Andre Villas-Boas a number of options in the attacking midfield three – he could hand Erik Lamela or Lewis Holtby a chance in “the hole”, after both were benched last time out, or the Spurs boss may shift Gylfi Sigurdsson centrally and draft in Aaron Lennon on the left. Villas-Boas has revealed that Danny Rose will be missing for another two or three weeks as he continues to recover from a foot injury, so Jan Vertonghen will once again have to deputise at left-back.
