Wigan welcome West Ham to the DW Stadium, with the home team only one point above the relegation zone and the visitors flying high in seventh position. Unfortunately for the Latics, the DW Stadium will provide little home comfort as Roberto Martinez’s side have yet to win there this season. That is unexpected given that they finished the last campaign so strongly at home winning four games on the spin, including a 1-0 triumph over Manchester United in April. Roberto Martinez will also be worried by the fact Wigan have won none and lost five of their last six Premier League home games against sides from London.
• Wigan have conceded exactly two goals in each of their last five Premier League games at the DW Stadium.
• West Ham have claimed 14 points from their opening eight matches. It is their best start to a Premier League season since 1999-00 when, under Harry Redknapp, they collected 16 points.
Wigan boss Roberto Martinez has admitted that defender Antolin Alcaraz is unlikely to return to action until around Christmas time. The Paraguayan has struggled with a groin injury since the early part of the season. Albert Crusat is also missing from the squad which with take on West Ham on Saturday, while Ryo Miyaichi is a doubt with a groin problem.

Sam Allardyce has stated that only Joey O'Brien will be fit to make a return to the squad for the trip to Wigan. The full-back has recovered from a hamstring injury and will now be set for an immediate recall to the starting XI. He could slot in at right-back with George McCartney retaining the left-back role and James Tomkins dropping to the bench. Yossi Benayoun looks set to hold onto the starting role on the right of an attacking three, although Modibo Maiga will be in the manager's thoughts having seen the forward come off the bench to fire a fine fourth goal against the Saints.
