Se lo si paragona col pezzo del Corriere che ho postato l'altro giorno il confronto è impietoso (anche stilisticamente pur essendo una traduzione).
Paolo Di Canio attacked his ‘arrogant and ignorant’ Sunderland players after saying he was disgusted by images of Phil Bardsley plastered in £50 notes after a night out.
The Sunderland manager dropped Bardsley and fellow reveller Matthew Kilgallon for Sunday’s game at Tottenham and revealed he had fined five other players last week alone.
Di Canio insisted none of the fined players will play for him again and vowed to stamp out a drinking culture at his club.
The Sunderland boss said: ‘That is something really wrong. It’s disgusting me even to see the image for the club.
‘It’s not about going out with your friend and getting back at two o’clock or three o’clock, which is late. You can close one eye. But not full of alcohol and walking like this. They have to behave well.
‘There is no excuse to behave like he (Bardsley) did. From now I will be more strict because we have to improve our professionalism.
‘In a week I have given seven players fines. It’s not acceptable. I thought at Swindon in League Two, arrogant, ignorant footballers in some way don’t know (the score) exactly because they’ve not had many chances at the top level.
‘I have to tell you I have found a worse environment in terms of discipline at this club. Will they play again for the club? No. Not under me.’
Bardsley, 27, and Kilgallon, 29, went out with others in the Sunderland squad to watch Wigan’s 4-1 defeat by Arsenal on Tuesday, but Bardsley denied being drunk. Wigan’s defeat meant Di Canio’s side avoided relegation and the players duly celebrated, finishing their night at a Newcastle casino in the early hours of Wednesday morning.
The Sunderland boss dropped Bardsley before the pictures emerged, noting the defender was ‘blurry’ during training.
