Wolves will hope to use the managerial upheaval at Sunderland to their advantage when two top-flight strugglers go head-to-head on Sunday. Mick McCarthy's side currently hover two points above the relegation zone with three wins to their name in the Barclays Premier League this season. Two of those came at Molineux – against Fulham and Wigan – but they have also gone down to Tottenham, QPR and Newcastle on home soil.
Sunderland will begin life without Steve Bruce following his sacking this week, which came in the wake of the Black Cats slipping to just a place above Wolves on goal difference. They are chasing their first win in five Barclays Premier League games, with their last victory coming at Bolton last month, which is their only success on the road this season. They have lost at Norwich, Arsenal and Manchester United and have taken just two points from the last 12 on offer.
