Sunderland make the long trip to Southampton in a game which looks like it could be of immense importance come the end of the season. Both sides sit just outside the relegation zone and are separated by only one point. The Saints can take plenty of heart from their recent showings, with only one defeat suffered in their last six Premier League outings, while Martin O'Neill's team have managed a meagre three wins in the Premier League this campaign.
• Southampton have been given the fewest cards in the Premier League this season (15 yellows, 0 reds).
• Martin O'Neill's men are looking to score in five successive matches for the first time this term.
Nigel Adkins has revealed Adam Lallana is the only absentee as the Saints prepare to square up to Sunderland. The likes of Guly do Prado or Jay Rodriguez could be set to cover for Lallana’s absence on the left of midfield, though Adkins revealed he has several options to consider, with more or less a full squad to choose from. Paulo Gazziniga is fit again after missing the win over Reading with a shoulder problem: Adkins must decide whether to stick with Kelvin Davis between the sticks or recall the young Argentine.

Martin O’Neill is sweating on the availability of Steven Fletcher after the forward was subbed off with a back problem at Old Trafford last weekend. Full-backs Phil Bardsley and Danny Rose both missed out against United and require late fitness tests along with Fletcher.
