Brian McDermott must be wondering what Reading have to do to pick up a Premier League win since lifting the Championship trophy at the end of last season. They were pegged back in their draw with QPR and in the previous week had to grab a late point against Fulham. Norwich could be the ideal opponents for Reading this weekend, as the Canaries have a tendency to struggle on the road. Chris Hughton's team have gone 38 games since they last kept a Premier League clean sheet on the road and have won only one of their last 11 away from Carrow Road.

Reading have taken the lead in five matches this season, drawing four and losing the other. They have also conceded 14 second-half goals - equal most in the division.
After 10 matches last season, they had 13 Premier League points. This season, they have 10.

Reading will be without goalkeeper Alex McCarthy for their clash with Norwich City this weekend. McCarthy damaged his shoulder in the last minute of their encounter against QPR last time out and so Adam Federici will take his place between the sticks. Sean Morrison made an impressive debut at QPR and could continue in a centre-back role, while the most likely change from last week will see Pavel Pogrebnyak return in attack.

A Federici • C Gunter, G Gorkss, S Morrison, N Shorey • G McCleary, J Tabb, M Leigertwood, J McAnuff • J Roberts, P Pogrebnyak

Norwich City have no new injury problems and could be unchanged for the trip to Reading this weekend. Russell Martin remains a doubt at right-back, though fit-again Steven Whittaker looked a strong replacement in last week’s 1-0 win. Michael Turner and Javier Garrido both picked up knocks against Stoke which restricted their training, although boss Chris Hughton have confirmed both are available.

J Ruddy • S Whittaker, M Turner, S Bassong, J Garrido • R Snodgrass, A Tettey, B Johnson, A Pilkington • W Hoolahan • G Holt
