New QPR boss Mark Hughes couldn’t halt the R’s winless streak in his first game in charge as they suffered a seventh defeat in the last nine games at Newcastle, losing by a one-goal margin for the third successive game. They have taken just one point from the last 15 available in the Premier League at Loftus Road and have the second worse record in the league against fellow sides from the bottom half, winning just two out of nine meetings. Wigan are rooted to the bottom after Monday’s 1-0 defeat against Manchester City stretched their winless run to six matches. The Latics have failed to score in three of their last five but have fared better away from home in recent weeks, losing just once in their previous four on the road.
