Wigan’s topsy-turvy form in the Premier League continues after they followed back-to back wins with successive defeats. They are still searching for the right formula at home, having won just one of their six games at the DW Stadium. Roberto Martinez will be hoping that his side do not concede first as on the seven occasions they have done that, they have gone on to lose the game and that record is the worst in the division. Reading earned their first league win of the season against Everton last week courtesy of Adam Le Fondre’s first goals since the opening day of the campaign. Brian McDermott’s side may be 17th, but they are unbeaten in their last four games, with three draws coming before that win over the Toffees.

• Two of the Latics' three league wins this term have come against last season's promoted clubs.
• Reading have won none of the four Premier League games they've scored first in this season (W0 D4 L0)

Roberto Martinez has revealed that James McArthur remains unavailable, as do Antolin Alcaraz and Albert Crusat. Martinez also admitted that captain Gary Caldwell is a big doubt after the defender picked up an injury in last weekend’s defeat against Liverpool. With Ben Watson also out due to a shin injury, David Jones looks likely to get the nod in central midfield.

Adam le Fondre should retain his starting berth up top after notching a double against Everton last weekend. Jimmy Kebe could return from a groin problem and vie with Hal Robson-Kanu and Garath McCleary for a role on the right, while the likes of Alex McCarthy, Jem Karacan and Danny Guthrie remain unavailable.
