St. James' Park
Newcastle will hope to maintain their unbeaten home record in the Barclays Premier League against one of their top-four rivals. The visit of Chelsea concludes a three-game run of fixtures to test their credentials following defeat at Manchester City and a draw at Manchester United. Newcastle's record against the Londoners is not favourable, having failed to win this fixture since May 2006.
Chelsea enjoyed some relief against Wolves last weekend with a 3-0 win to ease the pressure on manager Villas-Boas but the Blues will be wary of a Newcastle side who fought hard for a 1-1 draw with Manchester United at Old Trafford in their last encounter. The West Londoners sit just a point behind the Magpies and will be hoping to leapfrog them into fourth place with a good result, but could be lacking confidence after they were dumped out of the Carling Cup at home to Liverpool in midweek. St James’ Park, however, has been a happy hunting ground for Chelsea in recent years with two victories from their last three visits.
