Comunque:

Manchester Utd midfielder Darren Fletcher might have played his last match for the Red Devils with manager Sir Alex Ferguson conceding that his future at Old Trafford is all but over.
The 27-year-old hasn't featured for United since suffering from a bowel condition called colitis and is unlikely to ever play again according to Ferguson, who spoke on the player via the Guardian.

"He has obviously got great challenges ahead," Ferguson said. "We are happy to be patient but he won't be starting the season. It is unfortunate because he is such a magnificent professional and such a nice lad. If it doesn't work for him, he knows he has a position at the club anyway."

Ferguson was speaking at a media conference where he unveiled the club's two latest recruits of the summer transfer window—Nick Powell from Crewe for £4 million and Shinji Kagawa from Borussia Dortmund for £12 million.
The latter part of the quote does suggest that should he fail to make a return from injury, there would be a coaching position of some variety available for Fletcher, but that will hardly come as any consolation for the midfielder, who, most likely, just wants to play football again.
Fletcher has been a valuable part of United's midfield since debuting for the club in 2003 and has made over 160 appearances in the English Premier League since then.
His involvement in midfield was desperately missed last season as United succumb late in the season to hand the Premier League title over to rivals Manchester City.
Fletcher's last match, should he retire due to the illness, was an appearance in the UEFA Champions League against Benfica—a game in which he also happened to score a goal.
And if there was to be any consolatory reward for one of the most underrated footballers in recent seasons, scoring a goal in your final match for Manchester United might just be it.

Mamma mia brutta notizia questa :rolley: :rolley:
Io non sono un medico ma leggo molta incertezza su questa questione e sul suo futuro.
C'è chi ventila l'ipotesi anche di carriera finita.

Manchester United are likely to begin the new season stronger than ever after manager Sir Alex Ferguson revealed Nemanja Vidic and Chris Smalling are expected to be fit for the start of the new Barclays Premier League campaign.
United skipper Vidic was out for five months last season after rupturing his cruciate ligament during United's UEFA Champions League defeat by Basel in December.
Smalling missed the final match of the Barclays Premier League campaign and the whole of UEFA EURO 2012 after sustaining a groin injury playing against Swansea City in May.

Injury problems have meant that United only took one senior defender, Rio Ferdinand, on their pre-season tour of South Africa and China.
But their manager remains confident that both the former Serbia international and the England defender will be available for selection when they travel to Everton for their opening League encounter against Everton on August 20th.
"Vidic will start the season," Ferguson told the club's official website.
"I am sure of that. He's still at that level of doing a good amount of training but not the competitive level that the other lads are at. He's better off staying at Carrington.
"Smalling has done a bit of training," he added. "He had a ruptured groin muscle which needed a lot of attention but he's made gradual progress and we expect him to start the season."
Though Phil Jones has also missed the pre-season tour, he has been given extra time off to recover from his UEFA European Championship travails.
However, Jonny Evans is likely to be sidelined for the start of the season after undergoing an operation.

Però sembra che l'infermeria si stia svuotando.

Manchester United defender Chris Smalling out for 10 weeks
Smalling, 22, missed the end of last season with a groin problem that ruled him out of Euro 2012 and the Olympics.
Although the defender was absent from United's pre-season tour, manager Sir Alex Ferguson had expected him to be fit for the start of the campaign.
"It is a bad blow for the boy. He is only 22, he is young. Hopefully he gets over it," said Ferguson.
The absence of Smalling, who was injured in training on Wednesday, puts further pressure on Ferguson's defensive resources ahead of United's first Premier League game at Everton on 20 August.
Jonny Evans is doubtful for start of the season with an ankle injury and captain Nemanja Vidic is working his way back to fitness after a serious knee problem.
Ferguson expects Vidic to be ready for the start of the campaign, with Rio Ferdinand and Phil Jones his only other senior centre-back options.

ahahah

Manchester United's Sir Alex Ferguson keen to avoid European errors
Last year, the Old Trafford club failed to progress beyond the group stage for just the third time in 17 years after being involved in three of the previous four finals.
But Ferguson is certain he knows where three-time winners United went wrong.
"Last season we changed the team too much and it backfired," Ferguson said.
United failed to win any of their four Champions League group matches against Benfica or Basel.
They were subsequently knocked out of the Europa League by Athletic Bilbao, while Basel were beaten 7-0 by Bayern Munich as they were eliminated.
Ferguson added: "It definitely won't happen next season - there is no chance of that.
"Over the last few years we have used the group stage as an opportunity to play the youngsters.
"Basel were just an ordinary team and they showed that when they played Bayern."

Ferguson believes Michael Carrick, 31, will play a key role as United look to bounce back from a first campaign without a trophy since 2004-05.
He added: "Carrick is the key to it. If you look at the central midfielders in the Premier League, he can match up against any of them in terms of quality.
"He can read the game and also play in front of the back four."
