With their Champions League qualification hanging in the balance, Chelsea are under pressure and bidding to avoid an unwanted hat-trick of home defeats. Andre Villas-Boas' side are now 12 points adrift of Barclays Premier League leaders Manchester City following their 2-1 defeat by Liverpool at Stamford Bridge. It was their third loss in four Barclays Premier League matches and the first time they have lost back-to-back home games since Russian billionaire Roman Abramovich bought the club eight years ago. Blues now face a Wolves side they have beaten at home in all three Barclays Premier League meetings, scoring 11 goals in the process.
Wolves slipped to 17th place in the Barclays Premier League following a 2-1 defeat by Everton at Goodison Park. Mick McCarthy's side have now won just once in their last 10 Barclays Premier League matches and sit two points above the relegation zone. Wolves have not won on the road in the top flight since a 2-1 success at Blackburn on the opening day and now head to Chelsea, where they last won in 1979.
