Bolton’s defensive woes continued as they were beaten 3-0 at home by Tottenham last Saturday. The Trotters have conceded 34 goals in 14 matches this season, giving them the worst defensive record in the Barclays Premier League. Owen Coyle’s side have lost their last three matches following the apparent falsedawn victory over Stoke, when they ran out convincing 5-0 winners. It remains their only home win of the campaign.
Many managers would be happy to have seen their side lose fewer away games than all but one club outside the top four, but Alex McLeish has plenty of reasons to be less than pleased. His Aston Villa side have drawn five of their seven away games, only tasting defeat at leaders Manchester City and third-placed Tottenham. Their lack of victories, however, will be of more immediate concern to McLeish.

• Bolton have won just one of their last eight home games against Aston Villa (W1, D5, L2).
That sole victory came last season when the Trotters twice came from behind to win 3-2, courtesy of Ivan Klasnic's late strike.
